The Warper's Homepage
Hello, My name is Shivakeshavan, that's "Shiva" + "Keshavan"(in short Shiva). This page is about me and my work. The above symbol is a copyright logo for my site.
Though this page may seem to consist mainly of technical matter, please scroll down fully, to see the non-technical stuff.
About Me
I was born in the month of May in 1984 on the 14th day. I am now doing my masters in the University of Florida, Gainesville (FL). I had done my bachelor's degree in
Electrical engineering(Anna University, AIHT) and was doing a research internship in computational neuroscience, in the department of Bio-technology,
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) ,Madras with Prof. Dr.V.S Chakravarthy.
I have no fixed hobbies as such. I use the computer a lot, both for entertainment and for work. Some people think I'm addicted. However I am not. I would enjoy table-tennis,pool/snooker and a good game of soccer anyday. I like to read, write and think. I also love programming and have written quite a bit of code which I hope was/is useful to somebody at some point.
For a quick summary please read My Resume.
About my work(read experience)
I started learning about programming even before I had a computer. In the early 90's I started on basic and by the late 90's had a decent concept of C/C++. During my last two years in school my grasp of coding with C/C++ grew much stronger.
Here are some of the projects I have done:
My final year project: Project Kriebo
A 3d Physics simulation library using OpenGL™
A Neural network library
Handwriting character recognition software using the above library
Yet to put the code up for the following:
A program for simple operations upon large digit numbers (digits > 50), such as factorials, etc.
A program for simple encryption based on number, number bases keys for patterned bit swapping encryption.
My High school project: Hyperterminal program in C++ with GUI, for file transferring and chatting.(Code is in a crashed hard disk :( )
I developed an interest in DSP and neural networks some time ago. These were used in my final year project. I have also presented papers in a few conferences.
In my current research, I have been working on the following topics:
-
Handwritten character, online recognition.
-
Parkinson disease parametric analysis using neural networks modelled on the Basal Ganglia. This model tries to explain that running out of dopmaine can affect the way pathways are selected within the Basal Ganglia. That is the Striatum - GPi (Direct) or the Striatum - STN-GPE- GPI(Indirect pathway). The work is cutting edge for, as more interconnections are revealed we are trying to accomodate them to get a comprehensive and complete model.
-
Neuron preparation models, using (chaotic) oscillator networks such as the LEGION(Locally Excitatory Globally Inhibitory Oscillator Networks) by Dr.Wang (OSU). The use of these oscillator models involve an innovative way to simulate the motor-cortex regions of the brain.
My writings
Dreams & Sorrow, a weird story with a sudden twist
Wasted souls, another weird story about human emotions
The call of a child, yet another weird story with a sudden twist
The wooden bench, a simple poem
Pretender's tale, a perhaps, thoughtful story
Well that summarises stuff about me for now. I may add more material later. Thanks for visiting my website.
